- I did not see a mixer, or an amp mentioned in your list.
- You probably can drive the speaker directly from the keyboard output, but you
- probably will need an amp later.
- A mixer allows you to have more than one input going to the speaker, with a
- volume control on each input, and with better mixers, pan control, and some
- other controls.
- If you want to sing with the keyboard, at least a cheap mixer, such as radio
- shack sells would be good to get, and it will let you have other
- instruments like guitar, etc., play along.
-
- You also should get a compressor as fast as you can. This conditions the
- signal so it fits on tape better and acts sort of like a
- automatic volume control. When correctly adjusted, it lets you get recording
- levels, like used on pro recordings, rather than the weaker, and distorted
- signals you tend to get without it.
- It is a must for pro recording. Ask your music store to let you see the
- catalogs and what is available.
- Yes, you can record to video decks. It is best to get the more expensive
- decks, as some of them will let you record sound without disturbing the video,
-
- Or, you might consider a camera. Some of the cameras can do the same.
- (I do not know if you can get a sterio camera)
-
- Reverb is something else you would do well to consider getting. Reverb will
- make a $10 voice sound like a $100 voice, and is one effect used
- on just about any record so you will never be able to sound like the records
- without reverb.
- Alesis midi verbs, or quadra verbs are very good. Again, ask your music store
- what they can order for you.
- Quite a few persons have used vcrs for recording audio, and they are almost as
- good as a dat recorder, but you might want to eventually
- add a dual deck tape drive, so you can make cassettes for your friends.
-
- Also, get some cable ties, you can get them at western auto stores, and most
- electrical supply stores.
-
- With midi, and audio, and computer, you end up with cables all over the place,
- and you need to bundle them up a bit so things woill not be such a mess.
-
- Will not be such a mess.
-
- Your in for a very exciting time with your new keyboard and ear toys!
-
- Oh, you might get yourself some midi files while your at it, so you have some
- songs to test your audio system with.
