  12. I did not see a mixer, or an amp mentioned in your list.
  13. You probably can drive the speaker directly from the keyboard output, but you
  14. probably will need an amp later.
  15. A mixer allows you to have more than one input going to the speaker, with a
  16. volume control on each input, and with better mixers, pan control, and some
  17. other controls.
  18. If you want to sing with the keyboard, at least a cheap mixer, such as radio
  19. shack sells would be good to get, and it will let you have other
  20. instruments like guitar, etc., play along.

  22. You also should get a compressor as fast as you can.  This conditions the
  23. signal so it fits on tape better and acts sort of like a
  24. automatic volume control.  When correctly adjusted, it lets you get recording
  25. levels, like used on pro recordings, rather than the weaker, and distorted
  26. signals you tend to get without it.
  27. It is a must for pro recording.  Ask your music store to let you see the
  28. catalogs and what is available.
  29. Yes, you can record to video decks.  It is best to get the more expensive
  30. decks, as some of them will let you record sound without disturbing the video,
  31.  
  32. Or, you might consider a camera.  Some of the cameras can do the same.

  35. Reverb is something else you would do well to consider getting.  Reverb will
  36. make a $10 voice sound like a $100 voice, and is one effect used
  37. on just about any record so you will never be able to sound like the records
  38. without reverb.
  39. Alesis midi verbs, or quadra verbs are very good.  Again, ask your music store
  40. what they can order for you.
  41. Quite a few persons have used vcrs for recording audio, and they are almost as
  42. good as a dat recorder, but you might want to eventually
  43. add a dual deck tape drive, so you can make cassettes for your friends.

  45. Also, get some cable ties, you can get them at western auto stores, and most
  46. electrical supply stores.

  48. With midi, and audio, and computer, you end up with cables all over the place,
  49. and you need to bundle them up a bit so things woill not be such a mess.
